Echecks And Online Gambling

Rules of 7 Card Stud

The poker game 7 Card Stud Poker is another game that is easy to learn but very difficult to truly master. While the game has lost some of its’ following to the more popular Texas Hold’em poker, it still commands a loyal following and is considered one of the more difficult variations of poker. Here are the basic 7 card stud rules.

* The players all ante up at the start of the game before any cards are dealt (the ante is determined by the table rate and is usually set at 10% of the betting limit so that for example a $5/$10 game would have a 50 cent antes).
* All the players are dealt three cards, two face down (the ‘hole’ cards) and one face up (this first face-up card is known as the ‘door card’ or ‘Third Street’).
* Players have a betting round. In most games the player with the lowest ‘door card’ has to bet first (some poker rooms change this in a pot limit game and the highest ‘door card’ player bets) this bet is mandatory and is called the ‘bring-in bet’.
* All the players get another face-up card (known as ‘Fourth Street’).
* More betting takes place.
* All the players get another face-up card (known as ‘Fifth Street’).
* More betting takes place, however the minimum betting amount is raised.
* All the players get the last face-up card (known as ‘Sixth Street’).
* More betting takes place (at the Fifth Street round level).
* The final card is dealt face down (the ‘River Card’ or ‘Seventh Street’).
* The final betting takes place.

After the final round of betting the showdown takes place and the player who has the best five card hand wins. Note that although a player is dealt seven cards in total, they use only their best five cards. It is a common mistake to mix 7 card stud and stud 8/b up. There are three seven card stud games and each can easily be mistaken for one of the others. Play close attention to the table you are clicking on when you are playing at an online poker room.

Seven Card Stud Rules

7 Card Stud is a simple poker game to learn how to play, but a difficult game to master. While Texas Hold’em and other poker games are more popular (and commercial) as these days, 7 Card Stud still has a solid following due in part to its reputation as being one of the more difficult variants of poker around. These 7 card stud rules will help ,you learn how to play.

A game of 7 card stud is played as follows:

  1. All of the players ante up before any cards are dealt at the start of the game (the amount to ante up is usually determined by the table limits, the usual ante being 10% of the betting limits, i.e. a $5/$10 game would have a 50 cent ante).
  2. All players receive three cards, two cards are dealt face down (the hole cards) and one card is dealt face up (referred to as the ‘door card’ or ‘Third Street’).
  3. The first round of betting takes place. Normally the player holding the lowest ‘door card’ has to bet first (in some poker rooms the highest ‘door card’ player has to bet in pot limit games) this mandatory bet is called the ‘bring-in bet’.
  4. Another face-up card is dealt to all the players (known as ‘Fourth Street’).
  5. Another round of betting takes place.
  6. Another face-up card is dealt to all the players (known as ‘Fifth Street’).

  10. Another card is dealt to all the players; this last card is dealt face down (known as the ‘River Card’ or ‘Seventh Street’).
  11. The final bets are made.

After the final betting is over the showdown takes place, the hands are shown and the player owning the best five card hand wins the pot. Note that even though the players are all dealt seven cards they only get to play the best five out of the seven cards. That is how you play seven card stud.
