7 Card Stud High Low Advice

Some players get confused about the real low hand in 7 Card Stud high low. The fact that the HIGHEST card in the low hand determines the low hand confuses a lot of players. The fact that A-2-3-4-7 gets beaten by A-3-4-5-6 is for a lot of people hard to understand as A-2-3- is in their mind lower then A-3-4. You are able to take advantage of this if you think you are located at a table with a novice.
Other mistakes made by players is calling with a low hand for a split. Even if you have a low hand that looks good it can still be matched or even beaten by someone else. As you know you will not take the high pot you might be calling for 25% of the chips.
Furthermore, a lot of players go for pots half hearted. Stud HI-Lo Hands like 3-4-5-6- are played very aggressive while it is still not good for either high or low.  And even if you make the straight you might loose to a higher straight or better and low will probably be beaten too, so hand selection here is very important
