7 Card Stud Hi-Lo Strategy
April 30, 2009
When playing 7 card studĀ hi/lo the main thing to remember is: there is always a high hand. Not always a low hand. This is important as chasing a low hand when you start for instance with A-2-3 it starts off good, but if the next cards are a 9 and a J there are only two more cards left to come and they both need to be lower then 8 and not pair your cards to have a chance of taking low. Vital is that you try to get involved when you have a chance of picking up both or 75% of the pot. This can for instance be 3-4-5 as a starting hand or A-3-6 with the Ace being suited. These marginally bigger and better playable hands give you a few %% more chance of taking either both the pots or splitting one whilst taking the other.
If you manage to hit either Nuts then the risk to take is to bet hard at the pot. This could be to either take both pots there and then or to get 50% of some other players chip if you get 75% of the pot.
